ALX Training supported
Jersey Water’s ambition to help their workforce understand more about how technology can be tailored to meet their individual needs through an innovative training scheme. Every member of the Jersey Water workforce recently took part in an accessibility course designed to help the Company harness the power of technology to make the workplace more accessible for all.
The interactive session explored the advantages of using powerful systems such as Microsoft’s Windows 10 and Office 365 to help staff with accessibility issues. There was also an in-depth discussion about why accessibility matters to a business and raising awareness of the challenges people may face when interacting with technology. The pioneering programme also covered the benefits of an accessible workplace, such as:
- Improved productivity – by giving people the right tools to do their jobs they will do them more effectively.
- Talent retention – if people work in a supportive environment, where they feel they can achieve their potential, then there is a higher level of engagement.
- Raising an organisation’s profile through its commitment to accessibility for all.
Steven Emberson from ALX Training said: “I am fascinated by how you can make a workplace more accessible to more people. It’s a passion of mine to get people working. To see a supportive and inclusive employer such as Jersey Water committing to train everyone was a very positive step for them as a company and the Channel Islands as a whole.”
Workforces are becoming more diverse in terms of skillset, abilities and age. Rachel Neill, Head of IT and Change at Jersey Water said “We, the people of Jersey Water, are the most crucial element to our success, and as such, we invest heavily in training to support all of us to fulfil our potential and experience new challenges. We work with our colleagues, customers and our stakeholders and are proud to be both a driver and partner for positive change.
The accessibility course has proved to be such a success that ALX Training is now offering the course to anyone in Jersey. Find out more about our
